One of four prominent Gros family domaines in Burgundy, Gros Frère & Sœur is run by Bernard Gros and his son Vincent, family of the founding brother/sister duo, Gustave and Collette Gros. They are known for their wines that exhibit power and finesse.
This particular bottling, Chemin des Moines de Vergy, has an interesting story; the fruit for this bottling comes from a vineyard site near Vosne-Romanee, outside the Bourgogne AOC lines and cannot bear the Burgundy designation. Upon opening a bottle though, the Burgundian heritage is immediately apparent. This is rich, ripe, powerful Pinot Noir brimming with black fruit, dark red florals, and sumptuous texture from well developed tannins and 50% new oak treatment.
