Credited with putting Cornas back on the industry’s radar, this unstoppable vigneron farms five hectares of vines organically and focuses on single-vineyard bottlings. ‘Reynard’ is produced from Thierry’s older vines and is whole cluster fermented, aged for 24 months in oak, and bottled unfined/unfiltered. Compared to ‘Chaillots,’ this wine is darker and more concentrated, yet equally sophisticated. Serve with braised beef or hamburgers on the grill. (2008 vintage in the Northern Rhone: challenging, particularly for Cornas, though great producers prevailed. Slightly underripe yet marked by tangy acid.)
