Gandona was founded by Manuel and Cristina Pires back in 2006. Originally from Portugal, Pires was attracted to Napa’s steep hillsides, which reminded him of the pristine terraced vineyards of the Douro Valley. ‘Encosta’ is a Cabernet dominant blend rounded out with Cabernet Franc and a touch of Petit Verdot. Notes of dark cherries, sappy plums, baking spice, and graphite dominate this medium-bodied palate.
