Created in the 1950s, Isole e Olena represents the joining of two Tuscan estates purchased by the De Marchi family. Now headed by the family’s third-generation, the winery focuses on the rustic and fuller-bodied styles of red, perfect for laying down in the cellar and aging for the long-haul. ‘Collezione Privata’ is a varietal Syrah crafted from hand-harvested fruit. Fermentation is done in temperature-controlled steel vats followed by 18 months of aging in French and American oak, then 12 additional months in bottle. The wine is concentrated and intense, marked by flavors of sappy dark fruit, chocolate, and black tea. Well-integrated tannins and bright acidity lead to a lasting finish.
