Kobal Sipon-Furmint Stajerska Slovenia 2022
Kobal Sipon-Furmint Stajerska Slovenia 2022
Owner and winemaker Bojan Kobal, a true scientist of his craft, makes Kobal wines at his family’s winery located outside of the town Ptuj, Slovenia. Kobal is a tiny garage winery in the Haloze appellation of Svtajerska (or Styria), the largest of three major grape-growing regions in Slovenia, in the northeast corner of the country. Haloze has been considered one of the top wine-growing sites in Central Europe since Roman times.
This bottling is made from 100% Sipon, the Slovenian name for the grape known as Furmint in nearby Hungary. It is made with native yeast and partly matured in French oak.
It has notes of herbs, white flowers and tropical fruit. The wine is full in taste, with a richness harmoniously balanced by the acidity. Although it can pair perfectly with all manners of seafood, this wine can more than stand up to charcuterie, white meat dishes or even hearty stews!
