Widely regarded as Piedmont’s greatest producer of Barolo, Giacomo Conterno founded the regarded estate in the early 20th century, producing world class Nebbiolo across 16 hectares in Serralunga d’Alba. Fruit for ‘Monfortino’ comes from the Cascina Francia cru, produced only in exceptional vintages. Fruit ferments for 3-4 weeks in wooden vats, followed by minimum 7 years of aging in large casks. The 2010 vintage shows a gorgeous garnet color in the glass, offering a generous bouquet of rose petal, tar, and black truffles. The palate is silky and refined, with a long lasting, persistent finish.
