Varietal Nebbiolo from Roagna never disappoints. The estate is one of Piedmont’s top producers and is best-known for their dry, aromatic cuvées produced from long macerations and Slavonian oak aging. Fruit for ‘Pira Vecchie Viti’ comes from the estate’s oldest vines and is hand-harvested, fermented with indigenous yeasts, and aged in large French botti for five years. The wine is complex and lengthy, marked by flavors of red fruit, dried roses, tobacco, worn leather, and tar. Drink from 2022-2030.
