The Matthiasson family says this is their conception of a mythical “ideal” wine: from California wine "with a spiritual connection to Friuli, Italy" and other iconic old and new world growing regions. This white is meant to age, a blend of 50 percent Sauvignon Blanc, 25 percent Ribolla Gialla, 20 percent Semillon, and 5 percent Tocai Friulano with some barrel treatment. It's whole cluster pressed and aged on the lees. If you think this sounds like a carefully planned and crafted wine, you'd be right. It's truly something special and when fans here that a bottle from Matthiasson is available, there's a bit of a rush to claim it.
